What video capture software is best?

For a long time now I have been using Replay Video Capture to record videos and streams, but I have recently run into problems with it so would like an alternate program. However, I have had no luck searching because descriptions of programs are never specific enough, and I don’t really want to install each one separately.

The program is used mainly for capturing videos from websites (as an alternative to using an untrustworthy download link) or for recording myself and friends on webcam.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, in case it can be solved, since the program is very useful, here is my problem with Replay Video Capture. When I set the output format to MPEG-2 I receive an error upon recording of ‘Cannot install MPEG Encoder Filter’. When set to Windows Media 9, I receive the similar error of ‘Cannot install ASF Writer’.

I have tried reinstalling and re-downloading, to no avail.

i know windows movie maker is really popular but my netbook doesn’t have enough memory to download that and debut video capture sucks on my computer. so is there any FREE video capture software that you know of????????

i know Total Screen Recorder and it is very popular in my community. it is not free though and not big. Good luck

yes.there are some of them:
ZD soft is good for game recording actually.
well,camstudio is free completely,but sometimes so many problems come up to you.

and i am using Total Screen Recorder,i think it is simply and easy to use,no lag happens while using.(no watermark on the screen)
you may have a try of them to figure out which one fits you most.

hey, im gathering information in order to write a book, and would like to record certain news report videos off the internet while they are still there. so i can use it as reference. im looking into using a screen capture software, a free one that works on windows 7 wud be great

if you want to capture and record anything on the screen, recommend PCHand Screen Capture Recorder Suite, im using it and i think it is the best partner for desktop screen capturing and recording. Hope it could help u.

What video capture software is the best?

I’ve been trying to capture part of a game I play on my computer using only video software. So far nothing’s been working out too well. I need a program that takes up minimal CPU resources and can capture video with more than 30 FPS (frames per second).

I’ve tried Fraps and HyperCam so far. Fraps captures video at double speed and takes up a bunch of hard disk space with one video. HyperCam doesn’t do well with FPS or resources.

Any suggestions?

Why not Total Screen Recorder??
I am using this program to record my screen while I play games.
Before Total Screen Recorder, I tried like 5 different softwares(including Frag,Camstudio…) but I had many issues such as the game is recorded in the corner of the video with these program, the video is so blurry, and constant skipping on the playback of the video because the software can not record fast enough to keep up with the game.
Total Screen Recorder is an awesome software that I can use to record my game without all those annoying crap recording problems. Good Luck!

I’m looking for a free video capture software of sorts. I want to make some videos/amv’s for youtube/veoh and that but I don’t know where to start looking. I would like for it to put out somewhat decent quality at least. Anyone know of any free trustworthy programs?
